Authorities arrest fisherman accused of witness retaliation

A commercial fisherman licensed in the state of Maryland has been accused of federal crimes. Allegedly, the 41-year-old from Tilghman Island, Maryland, was involved in fishing that violated the Lacey Act. Investigators were looking into felony crimes included harvesting striped bass from the Chesapeake Bay in an illegal manner. The man was recently arrested and was also charged with witness tampering and retaliation in association with the investigation.

Man pleads guilty to attempted murder of federal officer

A 23-year-old man recently pleaded guilty in a federal case concerning a standoff between him and police that happened in Cambridge, Maryland, during February 2012. He was originally charged in Dorchester County Circuit Court, and his criminal charges including reckless endangerment, use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime, second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, first- and second-degree assault, and first- and second-degree attempted murder. Before he could face these charges, though, his case was moved to federal court. There he would eventually plead guilty to using a gun during an attempted murder and attempted murder of a federal officer, which occurred recently.

Maryland men implicated in supposed crime ring

Four Maryland residents were indicted by a grand jury in federal court concerning claimed conspiring to commit bank robbery, transportation of stolen goods across state lines and illegal possession of firearms.  It is asserted that this was all a part of a 16-person ring involved in various robberies and the trafficking of prescription drugs, cocaine and heroin.
