Ex-postal worker indicted for filing fake workers' comp claims

Filing for any type of government benefits can involve detailed instructions and hard-to-understand guidelines. A mistake made filing a claim could be interpreted as an attempt to deceive the government for personal gain. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has a special division known as the Violent Crimes Against Children Program. Its goals including providing a faster response when children are involved. It was officially started in 2000, though it has its roots in other programs from the mid 1990s.

Maryland drunk drivers targeted over Labor Day weekend

Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer, and many Marylanders celebrate by taking a trip to the shore, going to a friend's house for a barbeque or taking a drive to visit family. Maryland State Police troopers were out in full force from the Friday before Labor Day through the holiday itself this year to try to catch drunk drivers and generally work to keep the state's roads safer. A drunk driving enforcement team called S.P.I.D.R.E patrolled parts of Prince George's County that have been the sites of DUI-related crashes in the past.

Maryland traffic stop leads to multiple drug charges

Sometimes traffic stops can lead to far more than the driver and passengers bargained for. This was the case when a Worcester County Sheriff's deputy stopped a car on Route 50 here in Maryland in the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 30 for having non-working brake lights.
