Free rides on Halloween to Prince George's County callers

Halloween is a fun time for children and adults alike. Once the trick-or-treating is over, there are parties for the adults, full of wine and spirits - and not just the spooky kind. However, according to the president of the Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP), it's also a night when over 50 percent of people killed in traffic accidents in the U.S. are due to those who are driving while intoxicated.

In the hope of reducing that number in Prince George's and Montgomery counties in Maryland, the WRAP nonprofit will make it much easier for those who have imbibed a little too much to get home safely - free taxi rides.

The program will begin at 10 p.m. on Halloween night and last until 4 a.m. on Nov. 1. It is open to those who are at least 21 years of age. A fare of up to $30 will be provided at no charge to those who call for a ride from inside Montgomery, Prince George's counties in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Arlington, Fairfax, Eastern Loudoun and Prince William counties in Virginia. That includes the cities such as Alexandria, Arlington and Fairfax in Virginia and College Park, Greenbelt and Rockville in Maryland.

A charge of drunk driving, let alone a conviction, can have lasting effects on one's life. In most cases, there will be a loss of driving privileges and hefty fines. It can affect employment opportunities, car insurance premiums and one's reputation. Because there are so many variables involved in a DUI charge, it is wise to seek advice from a criminal defense attorney who specializes in drunk driving charges. This will provide the best chance at a positive outcome in the case.
